NORTHERN IRELAND WATER CRISIS

What has happened in NORTHERN IRELAND?
It has been the coldest winter in 30 years!
Over the winter months the water in the pipes has frozen
Water expands when it freezes and in this situation
the pipes have cracked.
When the weather warms and the water melts the water
has leaked out.
FORTY THOUSAND people have had no water!

Why are the residents angry?
During the Christmas holidays when families have been
at home they have had NO water for drinking, washing,
cooking etc...
They are especially angry because they haven't  been given much information by the water company. 

Who do they blame for the situation?
LAURENCE MACKENZIE is the Head or Chief Executive of NORTHERN IRELAND
WATER COMPANY he has been blamed for being slow at sorting out the problem, for not telling
people what's going on and for not investing enough money over many years in the water system.
He has resigned from his quarter of a million pounds job.

What is your opinion?

I think it would have been terrible to have had no water in the Christmas holiday.

A lot of money should have been spent to prevent the problem.
